Teeth: important function of chewing food

Introduction (what they are)

Teeth are organs of the human body of hard consistency, calcareous nature and white color. The teeth are located in the mouth and fixed in the jaws.

The main function of the teeth is to chew the food.

The teeth are classified according to position and function. Thus, we have:

- Incisors: Teeth located at the front of the mouth to cut food.

- Canines: They are sharp and sharp in shape and are used to tear food.

- Premolars and molars: have the function of grinding food and are located at the bottom of the mouth.

Human beings have, in their first dentition, 20 milk teeth (10 at the top and 10 at the bottom). After 6 years, the milk teeth begin to fall and permanent teething arises. It is made up of 32 teeth (16 upper and 16 lower). Thus, the human being has 4 incisors, 2 canines, 4 premolars and 6 molars at the top and the same amount at the bottom.

Conservation and dental health

For good teeth conservation, proper brushing is required after meals. The use of dental floss and mouthwashes (mouthwashes) is also important. One should visit a dentist every 6 months. This way you can avoid cavities and other oral diseases.
